It only seems fitting that insult has been added to an already painful season of Raiders football. Last week Sebastian Janikowski received the fan’s nod for the AFC Pro Bowl roster. This week Jano got an official snub from the league as the players and coaches put Cleveland Browns kicker Phil Dawson on a plane to Hawaii after the season has ended.

Janikowski has been snubbed once again received a Pro Bowl snub. The fans wanted to see the greatest kicking show on Earth but their voice only counts for a third of the vote.

Never mind that Seabass is on the verge of completing yet another historic season. On the year Janikowski has just three misses in 34 attempts with not one of those miscues coming from within 49 yards.

That pretty much means the Raiders are almost guaranteed three points every time they cross midfield. In fact Janikowski has also been Oakland’s entire offense for two weeks running now. Not exactly something to brag about but it proves how consistent and clutch he’s been all year long.

Making matters worse is that no Raiders were named to the AFC squad. Both Janikowski and Marcel Reece are listed as alternates so there is a chance someone will rep the Silver and Black in Hawaii.

He is by far the biggest bright spot on the Raiders otherwise beak roster this year. Sebastian Janikowski’s legend continues to grow as he keeps getting more praise for yet another brilliant season.

Yesterday Jano was named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week for the seventh time in his career. Today he was announced as the winner of the fan’s vote for the AFC’s kicking job for the Pro Bowl.

Of course his ticket to Hawaii still hasn’t been punched. The fan vote is one-third of the Pro Bowl voting process. But with the players and coaches determining the other two-thirds of the vote it’s looking very likely that Sebass will be basking in the sun of Maui once again.

The players and coaches will be voting today and tomorrow. The Pro Bowl roster will be announced next week.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Seven and counting. No that’s not how many field goals Sebastian Janikowski made during Sunday’s shutout of the Chiefs though he very well could have. This past weekend Sebass nailed 5 kicks scoring every point in a touchdown-less contest which was good enough to earn him his seventh AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award as announced by the Raiders this morning.

As stated some months ago, it’s about time the NFL just makes any AFC Special Teams Award the official Sebastian Janikowski award. If the Raiders ever became a legit contender in this league then you can bet Janikowski would be discussed as one of the great weapons in the game. Not that he isn’t already in that convo but this past Sunday illustrated why.

Despite Oakland’s all-out dominance of the Chiefs Greg Knapp’s offense had more trouble finding the end zone than Harold and Kumar had finding a White Castle. Were it not for Jano’s heroics this week could have easily been the most disappointing in Raiders history having played to a 0-0 tie with the lowly Chiefs.

Included in Janikowski’s kicking clinic was a season-best 57-yarder good for the 42nd time in his career he’s hit one between the sticks from 50+ yards out. Only Jason Hanson has made more kicks from that distance in NFL history. Don’t look now but all those jokes of Al Davis drafting a kicker in the first round won’t be too funny when Janikowski becomes the next Raider ushered into Canton.
