This does not constitute as another T.O. to Oakland rumor. That ship sailed long ago with Terrell Owens standing on the dock waving goodbye to the vessel that could have brought him back to the NFL. The Raiders have no reason to sign Owens and at this point its not looking like any team in the league is going to take that fateful plunge.

Earlier this offseason another round of rumoring linking Owens to Oakland began when he popped up in a picture with Carson Palmer and a few other Raider receivers. Turns out T.O. was getting some work in with his one-time QB in Cincinnati.

Now that NFL teams have concluded their offseason programs some players are taking it upon themselves to stay ready for camp by organizing their own workouts.

Wouldn’t you know it, Palmer and Owens are again playing some catch as part of a group that includes Drew Brees and Kyle Boller.

While the delusional Owens might think he’s got a chance to be back in the league his odds are likely longer than those of Boller who stunk it up during his lone half of football played for the silver and black last season.

So let’s just go ahead and move on from this now. At this point nobody is biting on the Owens bait, not even with a ringing endorsement from Carson Palmer. Thankfully it looks like this could be the last flirtation Owes makes with the highest level of professional football.

Here we go again. It doesn’t matter that Reggie McKenzie is running things differently in Oakland. It doesn’t matter that Al Davis had officially checked out of the knucklehead market prior to his passing. It doesn’t matter the Raiders already have a crowded collection of talented and young receivers. None of that matters because Chad Ochcocinco is a free agent and the NFL offseason is hitting a lull in the news cycle.

So without fail, the moment the Pats parted ways with their $6-million mistake named Ochco the speculation of the Raiders being interested in his services began.

It’s the same tired and lazy approach Raider Nation has become used to. It will happen every offseason so long as there are knucklehead receivers looking for work the silver and black will forever be linked to said knuckleheads.

For the record I don’t in anyway associate Ocho with T.O., the two are totally different. Chad might walk around with his head in the clouds but he’s mostly harmless. Dude can’t seem to wrap his head around an NFL offense which only makes his success even more impressive. But otherwise Ocho’s antics are detrimental only to himself and none of his teammates. Terrell Owens is the exact opposite. His actions destroy teams.

Still, if I’m Reggie McKenzie I’m staying away from Chad.

There’s no need to disrupt the development of Oakland’s receivers that have been working with Carson Palmer all this offseason. Last year Hue Jackson selfishly brought in T.J. Houshmandzadeh to give CP3 a familiar face. All that did was take away reps that could have gone to receivers with more room for growth than Housh who is currently out of the game.

There’s no need to bring in a vet that couldn’t digest the playbook of a pass-happy offense. If Chad wasn’t motivated enough to play with Tom Brady in a career salvaging year then why would he be any different with Palmer? Chad knows Carson so that means he knows what he can get away with. Letting him lineup with Carson under center would only enable Ocho’s tendencies to Tweet instead of study.

There’s no need to waste money even if Chad is willing to play at a discount. No matter how much or little you pay for his services you know you’re only getting the 34-year-old Ochocinoc for a year at best. Why waste the cash? McKenzie and the Raiders are cash strapped. Save some of that for a rainy day and go to war with the men who have been there and done that in the black hole. Ocho is desperate and willing to play for pennies but that doesn’t make him a bargain. It makes him a money whore.

Reggie McKenize can and likely will say “thanks, but no thanks”. Just say no to Ochocinco.

As if all the other warning signs weren’t enough here is absolute proof that Terrell Owens is done playing in the NFL.

It seems like every year we reach that point in the offseason where the T.O. to Oakland rumors start swirling. Equal parts journalistic laziness and general boredom, these rumors always ends the same way as being untrue and completely unfounded.

This offseason it was Owens popping up in picture having worked out with Carson Palmer and a few Raider receivers that sparked a minor T.O. to Oakland discussion. But even then it was quickly quieted when Palmer talked up his young receivers and the football world finally came to its senses after Owens drew no interest from any NFL franchise last season.

So, if you’re Terrell Owens and you’ve finally reached that point in your life when nobody cares anymore what do you do?

Why, start your own T.O. to Oakland rumor of course.

Over the weekend PFT reported that Owens gave an interview that will air today in which he expresses his delusional desire to play for the Raiders. As if that weren’t desperate enough for you Owens also states he’d like to return to the 49ers.

Good luck on both fronts, Terrell.

If Hue Jackson wasn’t willing to roll the dice on T.O. then you know there isn’t a Tim Tebow’s chance in an accuracy competition that Reggie McKenzie will come calling. I’m obviously no 9ers fans but I’m thinking that would be a ditto for their sentiments as well.

If Owens wasn’t such a massive douche this last ditch move of desperation might be tragic. Instead it’s just pathetic. Dude clearly doesn’t want to accept that fact that it’s over.

Hey, Owens, here’s the biggest hint you’re going to get that your career is on the Philip Michael Thomas scrapheap – the Raiders would rather have Eddie McGee on the scout team than you on the active roster. Let that sink in.
