With regards to the actual game itself the Vegas point spread means next to nothing. The Vegas guys are more concerned with turning a profit than giving realistic odds on a game of football. But the Raiders should realize there is a reason why the Miami Dolphins are three point favorites heading into Sunday’s contest.

On the surface it would seem the odds makers missed as badly as Tim Tebow trying to throw on the run.

Thus far this season the Raiders have resembled the Mad Max sequel cause they’ve been Road Warriors. Oakland has lost just once in five road games this season. Meanwhile until recently the Dolphins couldn’t win at home if they were playing the University of Miami.

In recent weeks Miami has made a dramatic turnaround. Well…not dramatic enough to stay out of the Matt Barkley sweepstakes, but they are playing some inspired ball.

As for the Raiders…they’re riding a three game win streak while trying to fend off the Fighting Tebows in Donkey Town.

So…umm…why exactly are the Fins favored?

Yesterday a couple former Raiders made back page headlines…well…more like small print, corner of the page, buried beneath the male enhancement ads type headlines.

Derek Hagan was able to catch on in Buffalo just a few weeks after being released by the Raiders. Hagan joins Buffalo’s active roster due to a couple of injuries and could have a chance to contribute. Hagan impressed in camp and was able to secure a job in Oakland only to be given his walking papers to make room for T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Good news for Hagan. The same can’t be said for former Raider DB Walter McFadden.

McFadden continues to find life in the NFL a difficult challenge. Yesterday the Cincinnati Bengals released McFadden from their practice squad. This is the second stop McFadden has made since being cut by the Raiders this year. No real surprise there as the slim corner continues to struggles to cover NFL receivers.

Really nothing should be a surprise anymore when it comes to Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders. Today was the perfect snapshot of the organization (or lack thereof) in Oakland.

To begin, we all know that the Raiders march to the beat of whatever drum gets Mr. Davis out of bed every morning. With the deadline looming for NFL teams to be down to the required 53-man roster all was quiet on the Oakland front. Small morsels trickled out to a hungry Raider Nation eager to learn just who they’d be cheering for in 2011.

The first to rumors were that both Walter McFadden and Lito Sheppard didn’t make the squad. McFadden’s release was shocking only in how long it took. It was pretty clear early on in his Raider days that his talents just didn’t translate to the NFL. At least not in the Raiders’ man-intensive scheme.

But that was just the beginning.
