The Numbers

Over his career, Schaub is No. 8 among active quarterbacks with a quarterback rating of 90 and No. 6 in completion percentage at 64 percent. He also ranks in the top 10 in career passing yards at No. 9 and he’s only been his team’s starter for 7 years. Then there’s touchdown passes where he ranks No. 12 among active quarterbacks with 130.

Shaub has also thrown for over 4,000 yards on three different occasions in his career, including 4,770 yards in 2009. That 2009 season was his best and ranked No. 14 all-time in passing yards by a quarterback in a season. Then from 2008 to 2012, he had a run of five straight years with passer rating of 90 or more.

These are the numbers of an accomplished quarterback and they alone tell you that he’s no scrub. As a matter of fact, Schaub is the most accomplished quarterback the Raiders have ever picked up. Rich Gannon was a journeyman, Jim Plunkett was out of football for a couple of years, Ken Stabler was drafted by the Raiders and George Blanda came up short of what Shaub has done.
