Chekwa is Back

I thought corner Chimdi Chekwa was going to be good since the first time I saw him against the Jets back in 2011. He was good in bump-and-run coverage back then but gave up catches because he didn’t know how to make plays on the ball. This preseason, he looked like he has put it all together to become the Raiders’ best corner as he is still good in bump-and-run coverage but now knows how to play the ball.

It seemed like every time opposing quarterbacks threw his way he batted the ball away until he hurt his knee this preseason. Chekwa returned to practice yesterday so I’m thinking he’ll play and this is a good time for him to come back. My jury is still out on Tarrell Brown but Rogers needs to be in the slot and rookie T.J. Carrie, who consistently gets burnt, would have given up a touchdown again Sunday if the receiver could catch the pass.
