Don’t Forget About

There are players who always seem to fly under the radar, as they just go along, do their job, and keep their mouth shut. Other let their mouth run all the time, but somehow are forgotten when it comes to listing the most important players on the roster.

On this roster, there are a few players who fit that mold, but will play a huge role in the Raiders success, or failures in 2018. Here are a few names not to forget about this season.

Jose Sanchez: Tahir Whitehead

With so many acquisitions via free agency and the draft it’s hard to keep up with them all. That’s why I’m here to remind you about linebacker Tahir Whitehead. For so many seasons the Raiders have been without a prominent linebacker. Opposing running backs would salivate because they knew the Raiders didn’t have anyone back there who posed a threat. It’s why we always saw so many gashes up the middle. Not anymore. Whitehead will put an end to that. This is a guy that shouldn’t be taken lightly under any circumstance. Raider nation would be wise to keep an eye on him.

Thomas Wheaton: Bruce Irvin

Irvin has actually been very productive since moving to Oakland, particularly in the second half of the season. Now predominantly an edge rusher, Irvin is getting the opportunity to do what he does best. In his new role, Irvin will make sure his presence is felt. It’s hard to get the spotlight when you are opposite Khalil Mack, but you can’t forget about Baby Reggie.

Jordan Alexis: Justin Ellis

When talking about the defensive line most of the discussion centers around who is going to play 3-tech. However, let also remember Ellis at nose tackle who is one of the few Raiders players who played well in 2017.

Brad Weiss: Jordy Nelson

Nelson’s statistics took a dip last season, but that was because Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone, and the wideout had Brett Hundley throwing him the ball. He is going to be a great No. 2 in this Raiders offense, and could end up leading the team in touchdowns through the air.
