Looking Ahead

On Monday, defensive backs get their turn as the spotlight turns towards some of the best prospects in the secondary positions. Getting talent at the defensive line and linebacker positions ultimately mean nothing if there isn’t a strong secondary to support them. Luckily, there are some options for the Raiders to look at during Monday’s workouts.

Jonathan Abram out of Mississipi St. is an option and Gruden clearly got a first-hand view of Nassir Adderley out of Delaware during his stint at the Senior Bowl. Karl Joseph will still be with the Raiders in 2019, but his long-term future still remains a mystery.

The Raiders missed their shot at Derwin James in last year’s draft, but that shouldn’t give Oakland any reason to reach too far for help in the secondary. Monday’s workouts should give a clearer picture on who Oakland can draft to provide additional help to the likes of Gareon Conley in the secondary.
