Last season the Raiders brought a familiar face to the Silver and Black back. Derek Carrier’s entrance to the NFL began in 2012 when he was signed on a one-year deal as an undrafted free agent by the Raiders, though he was released that same season.

Since then, he has become a bit of a journeyman finding his way back to the Raiders on a 3-year deal in 2018. Carrier wasn’t exactly a top target for quarterback Derek Carr, with seven receptions for 67 yards, though he had a touchdown in a pivotal rivalry game vs the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Even though the Raiders lost Carr’s favorite target, Jared Cook to the New Orleans Saints in free agency, and recently released veteran goal-line specialist Lee Smith, don’t expect to see Carrier on the 53-man roster, especially with speedster Darren Waller and 4th round pick Foster Moreau set to take a majority of the snaps.
