An undrafted local kid in Keelan Doss

Keelan Doss, the Alameda native signed with the Raiders after the draft finished up as an undrafted free-agent. Doss and Jon Gruden already developed a connection during their time at the Senior Bowl.

It was there in Mobile Alabama, where Doss caught the attention of Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock. Since then, they kept their eye on him, and later in the draft process they invited Doss to the team facility for their local pro day.

It was very surprising that Doss went undrafted, as many projected him as a mid round selection. The Raiders were all aboard as soon as the draft came to a close, as they got tremendous value in a player after the draft.

Doss can highpoint the football winning 50/50 battles and has faster speed than many give him credit for. At his pro day he posted a 4.45 40-yard dash. He’s likely to lineup predominately outside the hashes, but worked the middle of the field quite well during his time at UC Davis.

His college production was top-notch with the ball in his hands, as he caught 118 passes for 1,334-yards and 9 touchdowns. His awareness in the mix in traffic to go along with his elusiveness is what separated him from the bunch during his time in college.

Doss is going to be asked to fight his way onto the final roster during training camp and the preseason games, but it’d be shocking if he doesn’t stick around when the season approaches. Look for Doss to have a moderate role after hearing if he makes the final cut.
