Wide Receiver

Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, Ryan Grant, Hunter Renfrow, J.J Nelson, Keelan Doss

Wide Receiver, the most loaded position on the roster. This position group will without a doubt be the hardest for Gruden to decide who makes the finals cuts. Due to the depth at wide receiver, there’s guys like Marcell Ateman, Keon Hatcher, and Jordan Lasley who will either be stashed on the practice squad or released.

Sure, Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams get the majority of attention from this loaded pass catching group, but the wide receiver core has quality depth from top to bottom.

The new duo of Brown and Williams are expected to elevate the Raiders offense back to its explosive ways, just as it was in 2016. Brown came in on NFL’s top 100 list as the number one ranked wide receiver. Williams was the number one free-agent pass catcher and has great potential to take another leap forward in 2019.

Slot receiver is one area that’s up for grabs. Over the early stages of training camp it looks like it’s a three-headed race for the starting job, with Hunter Renfrow, Ryan Grant and J.J Nelson all competing for the spot. With the preseason games approaching, that will give a better indication on who’s separating themselves the most and emerging as the front-runner to start week 1.

Providing some insurance behind the three starting receivers will be whoever doesn’t win the starting slot receiver job, Keelan Doss and some glimpses of returning specialist Dwayne Harris. Doss is an interesting pass catcher, who could catch a lot of people by surprise one the preseason kicks off. Gruden has raved about Doss throughout the scouting process, and has also stated that he’ll get every opportunity to impress during preseason games in order to make this roster.
