Derek Carr within striking distance of Raiders all-time passing record

Derek Carr has been a great QB for the Oakland Raiders and continues to play well. His leadership ability and desire to win have given this team new life going into 2019.

Derek Carr has been a consistent quarter back for the Oakland Raiders throughout his five-plus seasons in the league, and is only 81 yards away from being the Raiders all-time passing leader and also 17 touchdowns away from Stabler’s 150 touchdown record too.

What’s also surprising is his completion percentage of 63%  surpassing Rich Gannon (62.3) and Ken Stabler (59.9). Carr also has the lowest interception ratio at 1.9%.

Drafted in 2014, quarterback Derek Carr has been one of the most consistent players on the Raiders team for the last 5 years. His best season, statistically, was in 2016 with 28 touchdowns and 6 interceptions but injured his leg in week 15 against the Colts, effectively, ending their playoff run. His interception ratio was 1.1% while his touchdown percentage was 5.0%.

He threw for 3,937 with a quarterback rating of 96.7 and completion rating of 63% with 262 yards per game average.

The NFL is one of the hardest leagues to be consistent but what makes Carr great is his leadership ability. We saw this in this year’s hard knocks where the Oakland Raiders were featured. Carr showed he had a desire to win and asked anyone who didn’t want to win to stay at home.

Jon Gruden has been a outspoken supporter of Derek Carr and praised him constantly after the win on Monday Night Football last week against Denver. The team has potential to take over the AFC West this year and get into the playoffs and make a good run for the Super Bowl.

This has been a challenging year for Carr, as many wanted the Raiders to draft a quarterback with one of their three first round picks in 2019, and all the noise surrounding Antonio Brown. With new weapons, Josh Jacobs, Tyrell Williams, and returning Darren Waller, this team looks to have a great season this year.
