Oakland Raiders 2019 Week 10 review: 3 stars, 3 duds

Tyrell Williams

Tyrell Williams finds himself on the ‘stock down’ list, but it does come with a bit of an excuse. As the season has gone on, it is becoming more and more clear that Williams does not necessarily possess the skill set to be a No. 1 receiver for the team.

While he does have the potential to be an elite number two option, the Raiders don’t have the blessing of having a receiver better than Williams. Therefore, he draws the opponent’s top cornerback. Last night, Casey Hayward got the better of Williams and limited him to three receptions for 25 yards, not ideal.

Philip Rivers

Could this be the last season of Philip Rivers with the Chargers? It is sure trending in that direction. At 37-years-old Rivers is finally starting to show his age and could be considered more of a detriment to the team than anything else. His arm seemed to lack strength and he missed open targets on several occasions.

Barely scratching 200 yards with a meager 207, Rivers tacked on two touchdowns but also tallied three interceptions, one at the end of the game. Regardless, the Chargers must be thinking about what options they might have should Rivers fall off even more than he already has.

Daniel Carlson

This one comes as a surprise and honestly should be regarded more as an anomaly than anything else, but Daniel Carlson does deserve to be among those whose stock is falling after last night’s performance. Usually true, Carlson had a rough game the Bolts with two misses that almost proved costly. His first miss came from 53 yards and he pulled it just wide, that can be excused as 50+ yard field goals are not easy by any stretch.

However, Carlson missed the PAT after Jacob’s game winning touchdown and put the Raiders in a really disadvantageous position only up two instead of three. The Raiders snuck out with a win, but Carlson put them on the brink of heartbreak with that miss.

A relatively easy match up awaits the Raiders as they host the Cincinnati Bengals next week. Derek Carr versus Ryan Finley anyone? Hopefully Williams and Carlson find themselves on the ‘stock up’ section next week after a big win over the Bengals.
