Las Vegas Raiders adding two former Dallas Cowboys in Witten, Collins

The Las Vegas Raiders continued to revamp their roster on Tuesday, agreeing to terms with tight end Jason Witten and defensive tackle Maliek Collins.

Las Vegas Raiders general manager Mike Mayock is taking advantage of the legal tampering period, agreeing to two more deals on Tuesday after locking up former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Cory Littleton. This time, Mayock stayed in the NFC, but brought in two former Dallas Cowboys, including a future Hall of Famer.

Jason Witten will join a crowded Raiders tight end room for the 2020 NFL season, as he agreed to a one-year deal with the Silver and Black on Tuesday. Coming off a solid 63-catch season after unretiring, Witten will now be added to a mix that includes Darren Waller, Foster Moreau, and Derek Carrier.

Wallen burst onto the scene in 2019, becoming one of the best in the game at his position, and could learn a lot from Witten. In his first full season with the Raiders, Waller became a 90-catch tight end, and has the kind of explosiveness that Witten once showed with the Cowboys.

With this move, Carrier will likely be the odd man out, as Moreau is a recent 2019 fourth round draft pick.

With Mayock looking to continue to bolster the defense, the Raiders also signed Maliek Collins away from Dallas, bringing in more talent along the defensive line. Collins started all 16 games for the Cowboys last season, racking up four sacks, while notching ten quarterback hits.

Las Vegas already has some solid young talent at defensive tackle in Maurice Hurst and P.J. Hall, but Mayock has been all about bolstering each position group, and Collins certainly helps them do just that.

Next: How will Derek Carr respond to the signing of Marcus Mariota?

Overall, the Raiders are doing a nice job adding quality players to this roster, and with a lot of money left to spend, they are certainly not done. Both of these guys will play a role for this team in 2020, as the Raiders look to make the playoffs in their first season in Las Vegas.
