2019 NFL Draft 1st round

The Raiders held three first round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, and rumors swirled they were either going to move one or two of them for more selections, or even trade up and draft a quarterback. However, they ended up staying put, with their first selection coming at No. 4 overall, where they added Clemson star edge rusher Clelin Ferrell.

The pick was seen as a bit of a shock when it happened, as Josh Allen from Kentucky was still on the board, and many figured he was the best edge rusher outside of Nick Bosa in the class. Though Ferrell struggled early on, due to being out of position, and then a sickness, he is definitely a cornerstone on this defense.

With their second of three first rounders, the Raiders used the No. 24 overall pick, which they got in the Khalil Mack trade, for Alabama running back Josh Jacobs. Jacobs would not only be the starter for the Raiders, but he put on a record-breaking season, and should have been the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.

As they enter Year 2, Jacobs is one of the best running backs in the league, and Ferrell should take a big step forward.
