Las Vegas Raiders: 4 things to expect from pass catchers in 2020

This seems like a low bar for what we hope will be a top-ten offense but it would be a good stepping stone for what is a largely young group of offensive weapons for the Raiders. Last year the receiving group did not have a player that even sniffed the Pro Bowl though Tyrell Williams was making a decent case with 307 yards and five touchdowns in his first five games.

A lingering foot injury derailed his season and he did not eclipse the 100-yard mark after Week 1. If the first half of Hunter Renfrow‘s season was like his second then he could have made a case as well but it took him some time to acclimate to the NFL.

The most obvious candidate for the honor in 2020 is tight end Darren Waller who had a stellar 2019 season. Waller should arguably have been named to the Pro Bowl ahead of Ravens’ tight end Mark Andrews who had weaker stats in every category except touchdowns, and perhaps more importantly for voters, wins.

Waller was likely to be named an alternate after Travis Kelce and the Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl but an injury ruled him out and his wait would have to continue.

There will be less targets to go around for Waller in 2020 due to the added arsenal but he will benefit from less attention from defenses and could make a bigger impact in the red zone. He may not match the 90 catches and 1145 yards he had in 2019 but he has a bigger profile coming in to the season and is now a familiar face around the league which will help his Pro Bowl case.
