Josh Jacobs leads Las Vegas Raiders to win No. 1 of the 2020 season
Looking Ahead
The Raiders will open up their brand new stadium sporting a 1-0 record next week, as they play host to the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. The Saints pose an even bigger task for this Raiders defense, one that did not force a punt until the second half on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
This will be the team’s second straight game against an NFC South foe, and the Saints will be coming into this game after playing host to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have the firepower on offense to make things very difficult for the Raiders, and the hope is they can get Nick Kwiatkoski back, after the linebacker hurt his pec in Week 1.
Carolina was able to do whatever they wanted in the first half against the Raiders defense, and that kind of effort will not fly against a team led by Brees, Thomas, and Kamara. Adjustments will have to be made this week in practice, but we saw enough good things on Sunday to be hopeful heading into a tough Week 2 matchup.
For now, the Raiders can enjoy this victory, as the game went down to the wire, and they were able to do just enough to come away with the win. New Orleans is going to be another tough task for this young defense, but if they can somehow get out to a 2-0 record, that will be an incredible start to a very tough early-season schedule.
