AFC West Week 2: Raiders shine in Las Vegas debut, move to 2-0

Los Angeles Chargers

It’s not often that a team can emerge a winner when the final score says different, but although the Chargers lost 23-20 in overtime to Kansas City, they undoubtedly have to be impressed with what they say in their rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, who was notified of getting the starting nod quite literally at kick-off.

After questions arose whether he’d be able to translate his game to the NFL, Justin Herbert went 22/33, 311 passing yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He also had four carries for 18 yards. While the rookie growing pains came to light down the stretch, allowing Kansas City to take advantage, the Chargers have to feel encouraged by what they saw with Herbert.

Tyrod Taylor was ruled out due to a chest injury suffered during warmups, but after the game head coach Anthony Lynn reiterated that should Tyrod be able to suit up, he will remain the team’s starter for the foreseeable future.
