Gabe Jackson, Right Guard

When the Raiders drafted John Simpson during the 2020 NFL Draft, many felt that Gabe Jackson‘s time with the team would come to an end. With a big contract, an no dead cap money, the thought was the young guy could come in and start alongside Richie Incognito, but he Raiders were right to bring Jackson back.

While Jackson is a solid guard, as evident by his play against the Chiefs this past Sunday, the problem is that he carries a high price tag. In order for him to stay on the roster next season, the Raiders will have to pay him $9.6 million, and with Simpson playing well as a rookie, he may be deemed expendable.

Jackson is a fantastic talent, and the Raiders just may decide to bring him back for another go-around. However, if they have more holes they would like to fill with some cap money, he presents the team with no dead cap dollars, and that could prove to be the difference between the Raiders keeping him, or cutting him next offseason.
