3 Northwestern Wildcats the Raiders should target in 2021 NFL Draft

Rashawn Slater, Offensive Tackle

Over the past week or so, the Raiders have been shedding big-money contracts up and down their offensive line, and that culminated with the team trading away Trent Brown back to the New England Patriots last week. While Brown was outstanding when he was on the field, the problem was getting him on the field, but still, they are going to have to do something to replace him at right tackle in 2021.

Enter Rashawn Slater, who absolutely dominated his Pro Day, showing incredible footwork and power, and cementing his place as a first-round pick. Now, the Raiders have major needs on defense, that is true, but if a player like Slater falls to them at pick No. 17 overall, are Mayock and company going to be able to pass upon him.

Adding Slater would give the Raiders two very young offensive tackles moving forward, cornerstone players who could lead this franchise into the next era of football. One thing is for sure, the Raiders’ offensive line when from a strength to a question mark in the blink of an eye, and Slater can help fill at least the big void left by Brown heading back to the Pats.
