2021 NFL Draft: Las Vegas Raiders trade down in 7-round mock
If the Raiders are going to succeed in Gus Bradley’s scheme, they will need a center fielder in the secondary. Jevon Holland out of Oregon is somewhat a forgotten prospect, having sat out of the 2020 season, but last summer, he was one of the more highly regarded safety prospects.
The Raiders lacked a ton of discipline and instinct from their safeties in coverage, and these are areas Holland excels in. He can be the communicator on the backend and sure up the deep middle of the field by being in the right place most of the time. When the ball is in his area, Holland can make plays. He totaled 19 combined INTs and PBU during his time at Oregon.
He is not the athlete that TCU’s Trevon Moehrig is, but he is in no way a bad athlete and will even provide more versatility in the slot if the team needs it. There may be some rust to kick off after missing the 2020 season, but his ability and instincts suggest he is a player that can start early for the Raiders if drafted.
