Las Vegas Raiders 2021 NFL Draft: Day 3

It was another crazy day for the Las Vegas Raiders on Day 3, as they went into the game without a fourth-round pick, traded up to get one, and landed a playmaking safety in Tyree Gillespie from Missouri. This is a kid who played big-time football against some of the best prospects in this draft this past year, including first-round picks like Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, Najee Harris, and Kyle Pitts.

A tremendous athlete who covers a lot of field, Gillespie could push for a starting role on this Raiders defense before all is said and done. Also on Day 3, the Raiders made Nate Hobbs their second pick, grabbing him with the Seattle pick they got in the Gabe Jackson trade, and he is a solid cornerback.

A captain at Illinois, Hobbs will join a position group that really needed some additions, and he is going to get a chance to play right away. Cornerback needed to be addressed in this draft, and the Raiders finally did so at pick No. 167.

The final pick for the Raiders in the 2021 NFL Draft was a center, as they picked up Pitt’s captain, Jimmy Morrissey. Las Vegas made a point to bring in high-character guys in this draft, as most of their selections were captains at their schools, and in Morrissey, they get a three-time All-ACC center.
