No. 2: The Price Tag

There are 3 sizable reasons the NFL world can expect Chark’s price tag to be extremely reasonable.

1 – There is both higher regarded talent as well as ample playmaking receivers in this year’s free agency.

Right off the bat, Chark falls under the radar due to being under-covered. With the likes of Chris Godwin, Mike Williams, and arguably best at the position Davante Adams having their contracts ending as well, it’s not a surprise that Chark is sailing lowkey.

On top of that, there’s just a good amount of other options; Most notably Michael Gallup, Allen Robinson, and Odell Beckham Jr. Both of these should play key factors in a team not feeling forced to overpay for the Jaguar hitting free agency.

2 – Availability concerns. The unfortunate truth here is Chark has yet to play a full season in his young career.

This is only amplified by last season, where he would play three full games before ending his season with an ankle injury three snaps into week 4.

As good as Chark is when on the field, the ‘when on the field’ portion plays into the hands of the team trying to get him under contract. When we revisit the above, about the ample playmaker options in this year’s free agency, most come with a history of being more available.

3 – The 2022 NFL draft is loaded with great WR options. Naturally, this is only more of a reason teams won’t feel forced to pay Chark more than they want to.

Even sitting towards the end of the first with the 22nd pick, a team like the Las Vegas Raiders can still pick up a potential-packed receiver for less than what they’d likely pay for Chark. The starting talent goes even deeper than this, heading well into Day 2 of the draft.

While it sounds like a no-brainer to simply draft a [potential] stud instead of taking a gamble on Chark’s availability, it’s important to understand the difference between potential and what has already transpired.

At the end of the day, the reality is potential is just a word, while being qualified is being qualified. When it comes to what someone can do in the NFL, Chark has already solidified what he brings to the table. With that being said, even if Vegas does end up adding Chark to the roster, don’t rule out the possibility of the Raiders drafting a WR to be under DJ’s wing!
