Revised AFC QB rankings after all the free agency moves so far
Easily the most shocking move of the off-season, former Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns. Of course, the only reason he was traded at all is due to his legal situation. This is the same thing that caused him to miss all of the 2021 season after an incredible 2020 season where he led the league in passing yards.
After another year of mediocrity with Baker Mayfield in 2021, the Browns knew they had to move on in order to maximize the talent currently on the roster. Of course, Mayfield was not a bad player, he just wasn’t an elite player. Watson however, definitely is. In 2020, he was arguably a top-three quarterback in the entire NFL.
Not only did they make a move to trade for Watson, but Cleveland also added former Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper from the Cowboys. This combined with the stout running game of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt gives the Browns one of the most dangerous offenses in the entire NFL. While Watson may have some rust to clean off early in 2022, the Browns will be dangerous once he gets going again.
