Las Vegas Raiders: 2023 New Years resolutions that must be kept

No More Blown Leads

In 2022, there have been numerous times when the Raiders looked like one of the better teams in the league. With Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams tearing up defenses, Vegas has gotten out to big leads many times this season. In fact, they have had a 17-0 lead at halftime three times this season and lost all three games.

In nearly every game, the Raiders have had a double-digit lead and managed to blow it. In a season that has been a failure in the win-loss column, the team very well may have a playoff spot if they could just keep some of these leads throughout the game.

Fixing this problem going forward is not a simple one. Josh McDaniels will have to be more aggressive going forward in the second half of games. The team starting quarterback next season will have to follow suit. In addition, the defense will need to force turnovers and get timely stops.

Luckily for the Raiders, this is a problem many teams in the NFL face. It is hard to win in the NFL and games are often decided by a score or less. For Las Vegas, this could not be more true as eight of their nine losses have been by one score.

If the Raiders can continue getting leads early in 2023 while also learning how to maintain them through the second half, it is highly likely that the team will be in the playoffs. This may also be the key to McDaniels keeping his job.
