2022 Las Vegas Raiders free agents the team should have re-signed
No. 2: Zay Jones
A former first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, Zay Jones had a sort-of breakout season with the Raiders in 2021, catching some big passes from Derek Carr, and putting his career back on the map. In free agency last offseason, the team decided to let him walk, and the Jacksonville Jaguars were waiting with open arms.
Jones was made available due to the fact the team had other plans at the position, including bringing in Davante Adams to be their top-of-the-depth chart wideout. Adams is widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers in football and did not disappoint in 2022, setting the Raiders’ single-season receiving record, but Jones should have been brought back for depth at the position.
Playing a key role on a team that is still playing as we head into the Divisional Round, Jones set career-highs in both catches and receiving yards, and is a big reason why the Jaguars went from worst to first in the AFC South.
