The Davante Adams saga in Las Vegas might be coming to a close.
The star wide receiver finally requested a trade from the team on Tuesday, effectively ending his rocky tenure with the Raiders that was a constant media whirlwind.
The endless trade rumors, the cryptic messages with the media, and the public outbursts by Adams on the sidelines will no longer haunt fans of the Silver and Black.
Raider Nation won't need to justify the ever-evolving news and feelings of Adams. Instead, his career with the Raiders will serve as a reminder that where there's smoke, there's fire.
Just two weeks ago Adams had a nine-catch, 110-yard, one-touchdown performance in a road win against the Baltimore Ravens. But now, he is on the trade block, and the Raiders are currently listening to offers and gaining intel on the situation, according to multiple reports.
Let's take a look at some potential teams that could be interested in the nearly 32-year old receiver.
AFC landing spots
Frontrunner: New York Jets
The New York Jets are the most sensible location for Davante Adams to land.
Here he would reunite with Aaron Rodgers, his former quarterback in Green Bay. These two players are not getting any younger and the Jets seem to be all-in on winning this season, so a big swing makes sense for New York.
Not to mention, they have something the Raiders could want: an elite edge rusher in Hassan Reddick. He could fill the void of Malcolm Koonce, who is sidelined for the year with a knee injury and is currently not under contract next year for Las Vegas, and help take the pressure off of Maxx Crosby, who is less than 100% health-wise.
If I was a betting man, I would say Adams is in New York by the end of the week.
Makes sense: Pittsburgh Steelers
Another team that could use the talents of Adams would be the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Steelers OC Arthur Smith is doing his best to operate with an offense that is devoid of any true game-changing talent outside of George Pickens, and so far, he is failing.
Still, the Steelers are 3-1 and sit atop the NFC North because of their elite defensive play. If the offense could add a major weapon like Adams, they could play more complementary football and not have to rely on the defense so much.
Dark horse: Buffalo Bills
Adding Adams to the Bills may make Buffalo the front-runner in the AFC.
Josh Allen and Co. have been one of the best scoring offenses in the league this season, and they have done so without a legitimate No. 1 option in their receiving core.
Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid have been solid, and Keon Coleman is young but still developing. A legit WR1 may do wonders for an already-thriving Bills offense if they are looking to go all in to knock off the Chiefs this season.
Mark Davis may want to make this deal happen just to spite Kansas City, the only thing I could see getting in the way would be hesitation from Buffalo in regards to signing another Stefon Diggs-type player.
NFC destinations
Frontrunner: Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are another team that has had tremendous success on offense this season while utilizing sub-par talent for the most part.
Terry McLaurin is a great piece, but Noah Brown and Luke McCaffery do not constitute any kind of dangerous 1-2 punch as supplementary pieces.
Adding Adams into the mix with Kliff Kingsbury and a young quarterback like Jayden Daniels may propel them further ahead of schedule as they cling to a 3-1 record and sole leadership of the NFC East.
Makes sense: New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have a chance at landing Adams for the same reason that the Raiders got him in the first place: Derek Carr.
Adams' best season on the Raiders was his initial campaign with Carr under center, and there is a chance that the two could reunite again in New Orleans.
After a hot start to the year, the Saints have cooled down a bit and may be in the market for a jolt to their offense. Adams fits the bill and could take the pressure off of Chris Olave and Rasheed Shaheed tremendously.
Klint Kubiak is a brilliant offensive mind and he may be foaming at the mouth for an opportunity to acquire Adams.
Dark horse: Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are a bit of a long shot, but hear me out.
Based on their offseason transactions, Atlanta seems to be all in for the 2024 season. They broke the bank for Kirk Cousins during the free agency period, added Justin Simmons and traded for Matthew Judon all within weeks of the season starting.
Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud are a fine trio of receivers, but imagine how much better they could be with a true alpha dog WR1.
Cousins is exactly the kind of QB that Adams would love playing with. Plus, the Falcons play on Thursday Night this week and could use the mini-bye to get Adams up to speed.
