Only Two Series?

ESPN.com is reporting that the Oakland Raiders Head Coach has made a decision on JaMarcus Russell’s playing time against the visiting Indianapolis Colts.  Yet the statement isn’t completely true:

"Coach Lane Kiffin has committed to playing time for rookie quarterback JaMarcus Russell for Sunday’s game. Russell, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft, has appeared in only one game this season, Oakland’s Dec. 2 victory over the Denver Broncos, and has spent much of the year third on the depth chart. Kiffin has not said how much Russell will play Sunday, but has designed a limited package of specific plays for the former LSU star. The expectation is that Russell will enter the game in the second quarter and probably play two series"

Did anyone else see the contradiction there?  Kiffin committed to playing Russell three days ago, and like I said three days ago, he’s not going to say how long or when Russell will play.  Now if ESPN’s rumor that Russell will play only two series is true, then Kiffin is going to make a mistake.  Oh yeah, you’ll also find in the ESPN article something about Josh McCown getting the start against the Colts, and Daunte Culpepper still hurt; but that’s neither here nor there as far as I’m concerned.  Russell needs to learn.
