Al Davis finally made good on his promise to relieve Lane Kiffin of his coaching duties. So, the luckiest man in the Bay Area today is probably Lane Kiffin. Not only does he get to exit this mess, but he does so looking quite well.
Kiffin leaves the Raiders at a time when they were at their most competitive. He gets credit for that since his predecessors can’t say the same. Not since Jon Gruden coached the team have they been this tough opponent on opposing team’s schedules. Chances are they won’t be for the rest of this season either (any [...]

Latest Coach Kiffin News
The latest report from Oakland is that owner Al Davis is meeting with three members of the Oakland organization to discuss replacing Lane Kiffin.
What do you think? Is it time for Lane Kiffin to go or is Al Davis just running the Raiders farther into the ground? Voice your opinions!
It’s a great time for the bye
I had planned to write about how the Raiders gave another one away. I was going to discuss that the season is slipping away with the 4th quarter giveaways and the continued Coach Kiffin speculation. But, I’m going a different route. This season is far from over.
The bye week gets here at the absolute perfect time. The Raiders are reeling, blowing two very winnable games to Buffalo and San Diego. The second hurts a little worse because it was the Chargers and because it was a 15-0 lead. There is a silver (and black) lining, though.
The Raiders held their own without [...]
Early thoughts on Sunday
You’ll probably call me crazy, but I think the Raiders will be in the AFC mix a lot longer than usual. Yes, it sounds insane after the opener against Denver. But, we’ve seen signs of life since then. The game in KC showed what both the offense and defense are capable of doing. Last week’s game against Buffalo was probably even more impressive. It showed the Raiders can compete on the road with a very solid team. Now the test begins.
Silver and Black are 1-2. That’s good for 7th place in the conference. This week’s game has the chance to [...]
Wrong Time for a Coaching Change
There are rumors circulating again that owner Al Davis may fire Coach Lane Kiffin as early as today. With the team coming off a rough loss to Buffalo and the coaching staff waging a war of words, it seems like a change could better the team. I could not disagree more.
The disagreement on philosophy, members of the coaching staff, and personnel decisions started long before this current season did. Coach Kiffin doesn’t have buy-in from his fellow coaches (primarily Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan) nor does he have the necessary opportunity to make player personnel decisions. Al Davis contends Kiffin is [...]
Run, baby, run
The Oakland Raiders get to have McAfee Coliseum all to themselves this fall and winter, after the A’s schedule ends and the end of summer finally puts an end to the Athletics self-imposed struggling season.
The Raiders have been trying to shake off the slide the franchise has endured every since they lost to Jon Gruden and the Bucs in a humiliating Super Bowl loss in 2002. This is old news, but the message is still the same: one of the most successful clubs in the history of the NFL has been trying to [...]
Raiders Sign TE Troupe
Adam Schefter’s Blog
Continually looking to improve JaMarcus Russell’s targets, the Raiders signed tight end Ben Troupe on Friday. A former Florida standout, Troupe failed to make his mark in Tennessee or in Tampa Bay this past summer. Oakland has been looking for help at tight end and it has seen enough of Troupe to think he could provide it.
McFadden To Play Sunday?
Even though Darren McFadden has a case of turf toe he is still expected to start on Sunday for the Raiders. Lane Kiffin will see how McFadden feels after warming up and taking a pain killer. If McFadden can’t go then it will be Michael Bush starting with Justin Fargas still hurting.
“We’ll see how Darren feels during warm-ups and right before the game,” Kiffin said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
