Last year Ross struggled mightily especially in man coverage and in a system where the safeties are meant to be interchangeable that is not a good start. With the retention of Young as the backup free safety, the drafting of Dowling who can play both, and the pressure from Shelton Johnson who played limited snaps at the end of last year as an undrafted free agent from Wisconsin, there are plenty of people who can step in for Ross if he fails again.
