Oakland Raiders sign Vincent Brown after successful workout

With the Oakland Raiders looking for help anywhere they can get it following an 0-2 start to the 2014 season veteran wideout Vincent Brown may be one of the names added to the roster as head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie desperately look for answers, working out the former San Diego Chargers receiver on Monday. With reports that Brown had an impressive workout with the team, there are now reports coming out that a potential contract offer may be in the works.

Adam Caplan tweeted that Brown had impressed and that a deal was in the works, something that has been confirmed in the past hour as rumors have surfaced that Brown will be coming to Oakland on a one year deal. Likely as an improvement over Brice Butler, who failed to impress after a strong preseason during the home opener loss against Houston.

Brown even has a nameplate in the Raiders locker room, so it can be assumed that the veteran will be in the Raiders roster come Sunday against the New England Patriots or if not then as early as the Wembley trip to play the Miami Dolphins Week 4.

The biggest knock on Brown is his durability, but for a team like the Raiders who are desperate for any offensive punch after failing to crack 21+ points in both of their first two games this move makes perfect sense. Brown should come in and make some plays, something that will help out rookie Derek Carr. This move won’t turn the Raiders into contenders, but it may bolster the offense enough to put more points on the board this season.
