Key Departures: Branden Albert, Jon Asamoah, Geoff Schwartz, and Dexter McCluster

Grade: D-

The Kansas City Chiefs approach to this offseason has been confusing to say the least. They have lost three out of their five starting offensive linemen and have signed no linemen to replace them. The loss of Albert may be the most important as it places a lot of responsibility on 2013 first overall pick, Eric Fisher.

Fisher played RT last season but with the loss of Albert he will have to slide into the LT spot before he is ready. Last season Fisher struggled and it will be interesting to see if he can make the necessary improvements a move to LT requires. Without signing another LT it places a lot of pressure on Fisher to keep Alex Smith protected.

The other losses on the offensive line, Asamoah and Schwartz, are significant because one of the strengths of the Chiefs last season was their offensive line. Without those three players it makes their O-line a weakness. We will see how the Chiefs can fix these holes to help keep Jamal Charles and Alex Smith happy.

While losing significant talent on their O-line, the Chiefs have added more solid players to their already stout defense. Vance Walker will do a nice job in the middle of their defense next to Dontari Poe. They also added Chris Owens and Joe Mays both are solid veteran role players. Hard to criticize a team that won 11 games last season but the moves they have made this offseason do not make much sense and I would not be surprised with a drop off in wins next season.
