Detroit Lions
GM: Martin Mayhew
Draft Picks: 10, 45, 76, 111, 133, 136, 189, 227
The Detroit Lions are in a very similar position as Buffalo. I team filled with talent, but has yet to reach their potential. A recent report indicated the Lions are serious about trading up for Sammy Watkins. If this is true, they will probably be looking to make a move with the St. Louis Rams, rather than the Raiders. A pairing of Watkins and Megatron would be out of this world, and very fun to watch.
If the Watkins talk is a smokescreen, the Lions and Raiders may make sense. The lions could use a dynamic cornerback, and may value Justin Gilbert enough to move up to #5. With eight picks in this years draft, the Lions definitely have the ammunition to do either. One interesting “wildcard” could be the availability of Ndamukong Suh. Martin Mayhew has denied any chance of trading Suh, but stranger things have happened.
The Raiders would make ideal trade partners. They can handle Suh’s enormous contract, and have a need for a dynamic DT. The price for Suh would probably include the Raiders first round pick, which would go against Reggie McKenzie’s draft philosophy. Although desperation could lead Reggie to a deal for a proven commodity.
