First and foremost, he has the lineage. Yes, he is the son of former Oakland Raiders SS George Atkinson, Jr. How nice will it be to see another Atkinson’s name on the back of a Silver and Black jersey?
Atkinson has an impressive amount of size and speed for the position of RB. He is an excellent kick returner, and he could easily make the Raiders team as a Special Teams player. As far as whether or not he will play RB or not will come down to his ability to absorb hits and lower his shoulder.
He has a tendency to always want to take the ball to the outside instead of downhill, and he usually goes down with the first hit. Maybe he could be converted to Safety? Believe it or not, he has the perfect body for it, and I’m sure he is a player who is versatile and can be taught.
