Oakland Raiders: Silver and Black are back

In my utter excitement for the upcoming season, I have found myself dabbling in a bit of poetry to show how the Oakland Raiders have risen from the depths to begin anew.  Though not one play has been executed for the 2014 season, I feel a sense of accomplishment in what General Manager Reggie McKenzie has done, and the direction the team has taken.  I am beginning to trust in the coaching staff, and the players on this team are coming together.

It may not be the best poem in the world, but it is what found its way to the keyboard.  It’s a poem that’s meant to bring out the excitement in all of us, and maybe, just maybe, it will be liked by all.  Whether you like it or not Raider Nation, please feel free to share your comments or criticism  with me.  Thank you.  Now without further ado, here it is:

SILVER AND BLACK ARE BACK

Once a proud and powerful presence,
Feared and challenged by few,
Shoved into darkness and despair,
Due to undeniable disrepair,

Our leader lost to sickness and death,
The team clouded in a fog and sunk to the bottom,
Still waiting for their chance to rise again,
Grasping and clawing for every last breath,

Yet, through the blackness shone a light,
The heir to the throne displayed his might,
Filling in holes and casting aside stones,
Ridding the team of unnecessary drones,

Like a beacon along the shore,
The king guided the team from the deep,
A ship on the move by sail and oar,
Out of its slumber and sleep,

Keeping with tradition while ushering in a new age,
The King’s men have finally turned the page,
Bringing forth a Raider ready for battle,
Many cages this team will rattle,

The Oakland Raiders are here to stay,
And Raider Nation will rule the day,
We have taken enough of your flack,
The Silver and Black are back!
