Defense

Safeties:
Free- Charles Woodson, Usama Young, Jonathan Dowling
Strong- Tyvon Branch, Jonathan Dowling

Dowling is similar to Carr in his treatment this season. As a player he is too risky to put on the practice squad because he has significant upside which means the Raiders will have to bury him on the depth chart while he grows into his frame. He is the long term solution at free safety and if Branch gets hurt and a roster spot opens up I would expect the Raiders to bring Shelton Johnson up from the practice squad and start him.

Cornerbacks:
RCB- DJ Hayden, TJ Carrie, Taiwan Jones
SCB- Chance Casey, TJ Carrie, Usama Young
LCB- Tarell Brown, Keith McGill, Taiwan Jones

Carrie has performed well as of now in camps and has the ability to play both inside and out. I like chance Casey to develop into a nickel slot corner specialist with the overall system being similar to Seattle’s where the outside corners specializing in a side rather than matching up against certain receivers.
