The Oakland Raiders face a daunting challenge in 2014. The Raiders face off against three playoff teams in their division, a brutal travel itinerary, and the most difficult schedule in the league. A tough proposition for a team hoping to have its first winning season since 2002.
Head Coach Dennis Allen and the “Mad Scientist” Defensive Coordinator Jason Tarver may have something special brewing in 2014, with a defense that could be one of the most versatile in the league. While both have given no indication of a switch from the 4-3 defense to the 3-4, personnel and preference may win over once September 7th rolls around.
Is this defense a 4-3 or 3-4? Well….according to Head Coach Dennis Allen it is neither.
The Raiders will implement a Hybrid style defense to maximize the talent on the roster, the key word being talent. The Raiders finally boast a very talented defense, with a coaching staff willing to put them in the best position to succeed.
