Every season there are several players that need to have a big camp in order to secure their place on the roster. This season for certain Raiders is exactly that and not always for the same reasons. After a big overhaul of the roster including some talented veterans whom will be looked at to lead this franchise and redefine what it means to be a “Raider”, Reggie McKenzie had an outstanding draft that will inject a massive amount of young upside which has not been seen in a long time.
With that roster overhaul comes training camp competition as after two seasons of having to get by on considerably less talent the Raiders will have serious position battles for their 53 man roster once the pads get put on. With that being said, here are 10 Raiders who need a big training camp for a variety of different reasons.

If you go back and read my very early depth chart projection I left Rogers off this roster. Let’s just say that some readers did not find that possible, but I will know double down on my logic. Rogers is in his early 30’s, has seen a progressive decline in productivity, almost exclusively plays the slot, and most likely will not play special teams. Rookie TJ Carrie will likely make this team due to his versatility and return skills. This leaves Chekwa and Casey scrapping for the last spot with Rogers and both are young bucks looking to make a difference. Lastly, the Raiders still have over nine million in cap space they could easily cut Rogers. It is unlikely that will happen, but after seeing his productivity drop in San Francisco it would be a promising sign to see Rogers looking rejuvenated from the start now that he is in Oakland.
