Bottom Line

This is in no way to count last year against Matt Schaub but the Raiders really don’t need to give him anything. They were right to pick him up before they knew they could get the best football player (Mack) and the best quarterback in the same draft.

But Schaub had all the talent in the world around him with the Houston Texans and still never won anything there. Those limitations alone should open the competition up for a young, talented quarterback to at least get a fair shot to beat him out right away.

Everything the youngster has shown so far indicates that he is ready to start right away. The boss (Mark Davis) wanted him in the first round and wants to see what he can do right a way himself. If he isn’t that great immediately, seeing him progress with the team could save head coach Dennis Allen’s  job and have the Raiders ready to contend the following year.

But I believe Carr is ready to win now.
