Athleticism

With his arm talent getting all the attention, Carr’s athleticism has been lost in the shuffle. Johnny Manziel is universally known as the most athletic quarterback in this year’s draft. But Carr’s 40-time was just .01 seconds slower than  Manziel’s  and the two split the other athletic tests at the combine.

His athleticism translates unto the field as well as he can scramble to get away from the rush. He’s also a good broken-field runner that can make guys miss and get good yardage on a given play. Lets not forget he was a spread option quarterback last year and they use it in packages in the NFL these days.

But in the passing game, he prefers sliding in the pocket and keeps his eyes down-field to find a receiver to throw to. Carr also goes through his progressions quickly and usually gets rid of the ball to a receiver, tight end or running back. That’s why Carr isn’t known to the mad scrambler Manziel is but he does have the athleticism to do so when needed.
