Leading up to 2014 Training Camp, Just Blog Baby editor-in-chief Chase Ruttig will be breaking down each position of the Oakland Raiders player by player and predicting where they will fall on the Raiders depth chart as well as their chances of making the 53 man roster come Week One. The series starts with the quarterbacks, a position that is clearly determined leading into Training Camp that some feel still can become a battle between Matt Schaub and rookie Derek Carr.
Quarterback has been the Raiders most inconsistent position ever since Rich Gannon’s career slowed to a halt nearly a decade ago as a mixture of failed rookies, failed trades, and failed free agency signings to find the replacement for Gannon has led to a decade worth of frustrations for Raider Nation when it comes to face of the offense. From Daunte Culpepper, Jason Campbell, Carson Palmer, Matt Flynn to Terrelle Pryor the Raiders haven’t had a passer have a quality season in ages which is why it is no surprise that the franchise has a decade long streak of playoff absences.

With Schaub looking to turn around his career after the struggles of 2013 in Houston and his memorable streak of throwing interceptions, training camp enters with Schaub as the de facto Week One starter based on reports and the desire to give Carr time to develop out of Fresno State, but fans showed last year with Matt Flynn that they will have no time for an under performing and washed up veteran if they feel a more promising talent is on the bench. What does that mean for the Raiders depth chart heading into 2014 Training Camp? Here is what you need to know:
