Matt Schaub can still do it

Bottom Line

I’m still leaning toward the upside of Carr but there is plenty of reason to believe that Schaub can still do it. The bad year he had last year was an aberration as at 33, there is no decline in his physical ability just yet. He was just compromised by a badly injured ankle that the eventually turned into torn ligaments.

And football fans well know that throwing the ball requires footwork and driving through with your legs. But now, he has started training camp brand new and has his arm-strength and accuracy back. If he makes it through the preseason healthy, his experience, especially against the AFC and NFC West gives him an edge to be the guy this season.

This battle will come down to how ready the young phenom is vs how much the accomplished one has mentally bounced back. The great news for the Raiders is the fact that they have two quarterbacks they can believe in. There’s no need to hate one to like the other because they are both good and one will just be better than the other.

May the best man win in camp!

Just win baby!
