In our continuing effort to include the fan’s, Raider Nation, in everything that we do here at Just Blog Baby, a new segment has arrived. I’m calling it the “Fans at Training Camp Report.” Basically, if you’ve been to the Oakland Raiders Training Camp this year, please send me your opinion on the Raiders. It can be about certain players, the team as a whole, or just the experience of being there. Email me at shane030702@gmail.com with your updates.
My chance to be at Training Camp will come on Friday, August 1, and I will be attending camp with “Mark from Section 122,” one of my best friends, best critic, and fellow Raider Nation member. I can’t wait for the experience, one that I will share with all of Raider Nation when I return. Until then, I asked one of my followers to report on his experience at Training Camp, and here is what he had to say:
Mark Shafer:
“It was a lot of fun. What an improvement from last year. The one surprise was Leonhardt. He made a couple of real good catches. Run DMC and MJD looked great. The quarterbacks all looked better than anything we had seen last year at this time. The best part was at the end when I got to help a kid get his first autographs. His mother asked me where a good place was for him to be to get autographs. We made some room for them on the 35 yard line. We got several autographs. The kid saw Rod Streater and said mom there is number 80, he is on my list ( he had a list of numbers 20, 21, …. , 80 of who he wanted to sign his ball ). Streater was ready to walk away so I yelled out, hey Rod this kid here wants to meet you. He ran over. The smile on that little guys face when Rod was talking to him! Good times Raider Nation Brother.”
Wow! What a great experience. That’s absolutely awesome that you helped that little kid. It definitely shows how much Raider Nation is a family. Take that all you haters! Seriously though, that is cool. Streater is a fan favorite, and for good reason. He goes out of his way to sign autographs and talk with the fans. Thank you very much for the report.
So there you have it Raider Nation, a report directly from Training Camp by a fan. Mark thinks the RB’s, QB’s, and Brian Leonhardt look good so far. So keep the reports coming, and I’ll keep this thing going until the Pre-Season begins.
