I really want to see Allen do well and keep his job but sometimes, he makes me wonder what he is thinking. When I say this, I’m talking about making the decision on who should start and who should come off the bench. In 2012, he started safety Matt Giordano over Mike Mitchell and after the OTA’s, where there’s no tackling, Miles Burris was over Moore as the starter.

Burris lost last year to injury as in his rookie year, he led the NFL in missed tackles and had the worst burn percentage among linebackers. He also only had 1.5 sacks that year so that made me wonder what it is that Allen loves so much about him. Meanwhile, Sio Moore comes in as a third-round steal last year and shows he can tackle, cover, and as the season went on, put heat on the quarterback.

So as expected, when the pads came on in camp, a motivated Moore beasted out, picking up and throwing tight ends around. Then when the lights came on, Moore had two tackles for a loss and a sack while Burris had one pass defensed but that is it. This fight was stopped as the thoroughly outclassed Burris is running with the twos as Moore is running with the ones in practice.
