One of the most intriguing betting props leading up to any NFL season is the “First head coach to be fired” as there is good value in determining which head coach will be the first firing casualty of the season. It also gives you a chance to cheer on somebody else’s misery, but that is besides the point.
This year Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is the favorite to receive the axe first as after a disaster in 2013 and the presence of owner Jerry Jones makes Garrett the preseason favorite to be the first coach fired as a Cowboys team with many holes on defense is expected to struggle in 2014. A fact that should lead to Garrett’s demise according to oddsmakers.
The second favorite may or may not shock you as a fan of the Oakland Raiders as head coach Dennis Allen is 4/1 to be the first head coach in the NFL to receive his dismissal. Allen was placed on the hot seat late last season according to reports and with Mark Davis reportedly showing frustrations during the preseason loss to the Vikings there is a chance that early struggles could lead to a panic firing by Davis early in the season.
