The Oakland Raiders had themselves a good showing in two joint practices with the Dallas Cowboys. First off, it was a good showing because from the reports, the Raiders got the better of it. San Francisco Gate’s Vic Tafur tweeted a quote of Raiders right tackle Menelik Watson as saying, “Hey, we kicked ass down here.”

Then you have certain aspects of the team that needed to improve on what they showed in the preseason opener. It was also nice to see the Raiders keep up what they’ve been doing well, showing consistency. But most importantly, the cream is rising to the top and the scum is sinking to the bottom in the position battles that are underway.

The atmosphere seemed to be that of a regular season game that could only fit a little over 8,000 crazy, loud, passionate fans. And it was the Raiders, not the Cowboys that were the home team as at one point, they chanted, “Bring [the Raiders] them back!” It looks like Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones was wrong about Southern California being their “home away from home.”
