Amid all the scrutiny and doubts surrounding Oakland Raiders QB Matt Schaub’s 2013 performance with the Houston Texans is a glimmer of hope. Among the many media pundits and moguls attending the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys Preseason scrimmage was Oakland Tribune beat writer Jerry McDonald. Mr. McDonald has been known to be negative at times in his posts/stories about the Raiders, and there are times when he seems to be one of the leaders of the haters out there.

However, during his observations of Matt Schaub running the offense against the Dallas Cowboys, McDonald tweeted these things:

To me, this is a very promising observation and statement.  See, in the first Preseason game the only thing that Schaub was carving were the words in the headstone that could be placed on his NFL grave.  Yet, his performance against the Dallas Cowboys shows that he’s still got some life left in him. Plus, it appears as though he is finally finding the right WR’s to throw the ball to (Streater & Jones). Not only that, but the WR’s and TE’s are finally catching the ball (Rivera).

It’s time for Schaub to put on a passing clinic in tomorrow’s Preseason game in Oakland, CA, against the Detroit Lions. Offensive Coordinator Greg Olsen needs to open up his playbook and show Raider Nation something other than vanilla. “Let’s kick the tires and light the fires!”  Go Raiders!
