In his first NFL training camp, Butler showed he maybe the next Streater, getting Offensive Player of Camp honors. That translated unto the field early on as he shined in the preseason, especially when he laid out for that deep ball against the Dallas Cowboys. But he made his way back to the bench after a couple of drops as any 7th-round rookie would.

Here we are a year later and Butler has been the Raiders’ most consistent receiver in camp. James Jones was added for the slot and McKenzie is still looking for another Streater to put on the other side. Andre Holmes and Greg Little were added for the role but look like they need to be subtracted as neither are working out.

Both have been quiet this preseason until Little made a 38-yard catch Friday night but they’ve mostly taken turns dropping passes. Meanwhile, even though he had a drop Friday night, Butler has been the Raiders leading receiver so far this preseason. He also had a 29-yard catch and had the game-winning catch from 19 yards out and it was fitting that it came after a drop by Holmes.
