Denarius Moore Should be Ahead

Up from the back of the pack to the No. 3 spot, Denarius Moore took on James Jones for the No. 2 spot. Moore won the round 10-8 with two catches for 46 yards including a nice 40-yarder on an underthrown ball. It took Jones 10 targets to get four catches for 36 yards and couldn’t quite complete a touchdown catch early in the second half.

For the preseason, Moore has caught all six of his targets for 82 yards with no touchdowns. Jones has six catches for 65 yards and no touchdowns on 15 targets for the preseason. That should give  Moore the win as the starters battles are over but they’re likely going to give it to Jones.

McKenzie did speak of looking for a big-play receiver on the other side of Rod Streater right before camp. They say Jones has the best hands on the team but that does the Raiders no good if he can’t get open. He has had No. 1 and No. 2 corners covering him the last couple of games and that’s been a problem.

He had a good thing in Green Bay with slot corners covering him and it looks like he needs to go back.
