Do Not Worry About the Oakland Raiders Defense

Coverage Will be There

The Raiders haven’t had as many sacks as they should have because the quarterback is throwing quickly. You can’t throw the ball quickly if guys are covered so we have to put that entirely on the coverage. And that’s going to be there as the Raiders are going to have a few corners that can play on the line of scrimmage coming back.

One of them is Chimdi Chekwa , who has looked like the best corner on the team this preseason. Chekwa is out with an knee injury right now but he should be back around the start of the regular season. “Sore knee” is how head coach Dennis Allen so if that’s it, we should look forward to Chekwa being back by opening day.

Because with the way defensive coordinator Jason Tarver likes to blitz,  Chekwa is very necessary. He’s one of the few on this Raiders defense that knows lock a man down with the bump-and-run.  Then the Raiders can start sacking the quarterback instead of there being so many completions after only one second in the pocket.

A pass rush is no good when former San Francisco 49ers corners Carlos Rodgers and Tarrell Brown playing at a free safeties depth!
