2014 Oakland Raiders Season Preview and Predictions

Editor’s Note: The majority of this 2014 Oakland Raiders Season Preview was written following the Raiders final preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks (before Derek Carr was named starter). We hope you enjoy what we feel will be one of the best Oakland Raiders previews you read this week.
It is that time of year again, one week until the NFL season and Oakland Raiders football. It also means it is Season Preview Week and that means putting together a comprehensive breakdown of what Raider Nation can expect out of the 2014 edition of a team that has missed the playoffs for over a decade. With a quarterback battle, a highly touted defensive rookie in Khalil Mack and a long list of proven veterans looking to extend their accomplished careers with a move to Oakland there are plenty of storylines leading into Week One against the New York Jets involving the Raiders.
That being said there are also a lot of question marks as well: Matt Schaub’s talent should he start, DJ Hayden’s health and the quality of the secondary, how having the hardest schedule in the league will impact the team’s rebuilding process, and even where the Oakland Raiders will play in the future are all questions that will be hopefully answered in 2014.
Many are predicting a down season for the Oakland Raiders after back to back 4-12 seasons, citing the advanced age of the free agents that were brought in along with their difficult schedule as key factors in what some feel could be a last place year for the team.
